Criticism & Unhappiness

Why do you think people criticize?

Many times it extends out of jealousy. Sometimes because they are angry or frustrated.

The ability to deal with people effectively is vital to building our character and leading to our success. Just the word criticize carries with it negativity and provoke negative emotions with it’s use from both the person who gives criticism and receives it as well.

In order to grow yourself, I’d like you to change your mindset and promise yourself never to criticize or complain again. Instead, give feedback.

Do not allow yourself to be jealous, angry or frustrated by another’s action. Practice empathy. Put yourself in their place. Taking a few moments to gather the facts and viewing the situation from another angle will help you to understand and with understanding comes compassion.

Compassion is the trigger for healing to begin in every possible hurtful situation.

  • When was the last time you used criticism in a situation when you could have used feedback instead?
  • When was the last time someone used criticism with you? How did it make you feel? Did it make you feel resentment? Did you start to justify or did you pause to reflect on what was said?
  • How can you change an upcoming situation by using feedback when you would have used criticism?
